Rocketts Landing Dock Installation

This time lapse is part 2 of 2 that shows the Rocketts Landing docks being installed on the James River in Richmond Va.

8 Tractor Trailers arrive carrying 40-foot sections of dock. A 30 ton crane moves all 20 sections one-by-one into the James River. Crews assemble long sections to be floated down river. Concrete is pumped into steel piles for additional strength. Crews attach angled finger piers to create slips. The riverbank is graded for stabilization and pedestrian access. The marina’s first phase features 40 slips.

The new community on the James River has leased just five of the 40 boat slips it began putting into the water in February 2009 to create a marina that will serve condominium dwellers and other private boaters.
